JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the management of the flexographic printing operations, including all personnel and equipment, at the Watertown plant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Application of technical skill related to running a CI flexographic printing press and the ability to train and manage others toward the same purpose.
  2. Manage the efficient operation of all print equipment. Use the principles of continuous improvement to maximize performance and minimize waste. Ensure accurate reporting of time and material consumption.
  3. Effectively oversee the hiring, developing, training, and reviewing of all printing employees.
  4. Promote safety in the printing process through safe departmental practices and procedures.
  5. Coordinate effective equipment staffing and scheduling to meet customer requirements.
  6. Initiate and use Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools to effect process controls, quality and improvements.
  7. Support the preventative maintenance process to ensure the continuous operation of equipment with minimum downtime and process variation.
  8. Support lean production and make-ready reduction efforts.
  9. Responsible for maintaining the quality produced in the printing operation.
  10. Participate in pre-production development efforts to promote cost effective production of all jobs. Ensure jobs are configured to meet or exceed customer expectation and requirements.
  11. Participate in post-production efforts. Review job cost-out performance variance, identify opportunities for improvement or for elimination of problems through root cause analysis, corrective action, and follow-ups.
  12. Manage departmental budgets and supplies. Ensure that supplies and essential spare parts are on-hand when needed.
  13. Exercise effective communication and coaching skills. Promote employee empowerment.
  14. Maintain professional development through continuous learning, skill development and knowledge of technical advances within the field.
  15. Recommend capital projects/investments when appropriate.
  16. Interface with relevant vendors to ensure inks are on hand to meet schedule requirements. Work with ink technician to develop corrective actions for ink related problems.
  17. Coordinate with pre-press vendor for the purchase of flexographic plates.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in central impression flexographic printing required.
  • 4-year college degree preferred.
  • Manufacturing supervisory/managerial experience required.
