Web Offset 2nd Shift Lead

Pay: $35.36 – $36.09 per hour

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Web Offset Lead Pressman to join our dynamic printing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Web Offset press operations. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent color management skills, and the ability to manage presses in a way that will permit the production of high quality product to satisfy customers and meet department and company goals.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Performs all functions of a Class A Offset Pressman
• Trains personnel and instructs new employees as to duties, responsibilities, housekeeping habits and safety.
• Coordinates with quality control and methods improvement programs.
• Gives approval for all “make readies”
• Seeks, recommends and takes steps constantly to reduce press downtime and spoilage, and increase production and quality levels.
• Passes on to foreman or head pressman of next shift such instructions and information as may be needed to assure continued efficient operations.
• Takes responsibility for obtaining and submitting accurate production and test roll records.
• Assists foreman in all matters as may be required.
• Ensures that personnel follow established safety precautions with regard to safety of all personnel.
• Makes decisions on when to stop the press for correction of defects and makes every effort to restart the press with as little lost time as possible.
• Inspects roll samples for print quality, including color standards, register, dry up, etc.
• Facilitate and promote the principles of SMED within the department. Conduct meetings to insure SMED results are part of employees’ daily focus.
• Advises foreman or other designated supervisor of repairs needed, operational problems, and requests assistance when in doubt or when it appears that a particular difficulty has gone beyond his control.
• Other duties and responsibilities as directed

Requirements

• Must be able to comprehend and follow oral, written and / or visual instructions.
• Must be capable of analyzing and exercising judgement in solving operational problems.
• Must be capable of efficiently directing activities of Pressmen or other designated personnel.
• Must have color perception.
• Standing required during working hours.
• Much physical activity with bending and kneeling required.
• Carrying and lifting of items also required.
• May require climbing of ladders.
